A scuba diving course is required if you want to become a cavern diver. The course includes four scuba divers. The first is an outdoors practice dive. Here you will learn the basics of handling line, reel, avoiding silt, and managing air. Your instructor will also show you how to plan your dive and keep your orientation and air management under control. After the course you will be certified to dive in caves and other caves following safety rules.
Safety
Cave diving safety protocols should follow the Rule of Threes. A cave diver must have three sources of light and at least two tanks, one of which should be independent or multi-mounted. They should also separate their gas into three distinct sections in order to have enough to last the dive. If the dive crew is experienced and has been diving in caves in the past, a more conservative gas management program is preferred. In addition to avoiding cave hazards, cave divers should practice safe diving practices.
Equipment
Cave diving requires the use of specific equipment. It is important to carry two types of safety reels. One safety reel should be used to run the guideline while the other should maintain the line tension in the cave. Make sure each diver has a safety line with enough line to reach the cave entrance. When purchasing a new reel, most manufacturers will pack the spools to the edge with guideline, which makes them more prone to jam. To avoid a jam, you should cut off about 10 meters (30 ft) of line before use to reduce the risk of entanglement.
Maximum penetration
TDI offers a cavern divers course. This course is for scuba divers who desire to dive in areas without direct vertical access. This includes diving in caverns and underhangs. Although it is not necessary to take a cavern diving course, this course will give you the skills and knowledge to make the most of this environment. This course will help you navigate dangerously through the small spaces that are sometimes hidden from your eyes.
Maximum depth
There are certain limitations to cavern diving. Cavern diving should not be done at night. Cavern diving requires more training than other types. If you're curious about diving in caverns, you'll need to learn the basic cave safety procedures and know your limits. Before you can dive in caverns, it is important to have some cave diving experience. This will allow you to begin your journey into the wonderful world of cavern-diving!
